Greenville deputy placed on leave during wreck investigation

GREENVILLE, S.C. (AP) — The Greenville County Sheriff’s Office says a deputy has been placed on administrative duty while officials investigate a wreck that killed a moped driver last weekend.

The sheriff’s office told local media Monday that 32-year-old Harold Robinson has been placed on leave during the investigation of a wreck in which 47-year-old Alan Craig Williams of Travelers Rest was killed.

Officials said Williams was riding a moped Saturday when he was struck from behind by Robinson’s car. Coroner Parks Evans said Williams died about 45 minutes after later.

Highway Patrol Lance Cpl. Tony Keller said Williams was not wearing a helmet.
