LOCUST GROVE, Ga. (WSAV/AP) – Authorities have released the identities of two Georgia sheriff’s deputies wounded in a shooting that also left a police officer dead.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation late Friday said that Henry County deputies Michael D. Corley and Ralph Sidwell “Sid” Callaway were wounded in the gunfire.
The agency said Locust Grove police Officer Chase Maddox was killed in the Friday shooting. The city’s mayor said the 26-year-old Maddox left behind a wife who is pregnant and expecting their second child any day.
The gunfire happened as the three officers tried to serve a warrant Friday morning in the town southeast of Atlanta. A suspect, who hasn’t been named by authorities, was killed.
