Runners dress as reindeer in a run against bullying

SAVANNAH, Ga., (WSAV)– Reindeers ran wild on Hutchinson Island yesterday. Well not real reindeer but people dressed like them and it was all for a good cause. Hundreds participated in the annual 8k reindeer run.

More than 200 folks registered for the race — including the kids in the kiddie race. Not only were there races but there were prizes, activities, and even celebrity runners.

This annual event supports educational programs at the Rape Crisis Center in Savannah.

“Most importantly, this platform allows us to spread our message of awareness, outreach and education with regard to how much the rape crisis center actually does. Each year we are reaching over 20,000 youth and young adults, helping them understand bullying prevention, helping with safe dates, healthy relationships…,” Executive Director, Kesha Gibson- Carter says.

All proceeds from the run will support the education program at the Rape Crisis Center. News 3’s Tina Tyus-Shaw, Melody Hopkins, Kris Allred and Ben Senger, participated in the race.
