UPDATE: Metro: Man fleeing traffic stop caused Victory Drive accident

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) — Police are investigating a three-vehicle accident that resulted after a man fled from a traffic stop Friday, Nov. 10.

According to the Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department, an officer attempted a traffic stop on a Toyota Corolla driven by Jermonte Murphy, 39, for a traffic violation.

After the officer made contact with Murphy, police say he fled from the traffic stop and went south on the Truman Parkway from Anderson Street.

He exited the Truman Parkway and ran the Victory Drive red light, striking the rear of a Chevrolet Silverado driven by Paul Walter, 44.

The Silverado spun, hitting a Toyota Tundra driven by Bristal Holloway, 38, that was stopped in the eastbound lane of Victory Drive.

Murphy was transported to a hospital with serious injuries.

Metro’s Traffic Investigation Unit is investigating the crash.


UPDATE: The scene of the accident is clear. Still no word on the cause or the condition of those involved.
