President St. accident leaves 13-year-old with life-threatening injuries

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) – Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police officers responded to an accident this afternoon involving a pedestrian on President Street.

A car was traveling on President Street around 3:20 p.m. when a 13-year-old boy reportedly ran into the street.

Police say the driver was not able to stop in time and collided with the teen.

The 13-year-old suffered life-threatening injuries and was taken to the hospital. No other injuries have been reported at this time.

SCMPD’s Traffic Investigation Unit responded to the scene and are continuing to investigate the incident.

UPDATE: Police say President Street has reopened to traffic.

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) – Police are on the scene of an accident on President Street involving a pedestrian.

According to SCMPD, traffic is blocked on President St. and Pennsylvania Ave. Drivers are asked to seek alternate routes.

Police say the pedestrian is left with life-threatening injuries from the crash.
