UPDATE: Police ID victims in deadly shooting on Betty Drive

Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department’s Violent Crimes detectives are investigating a shooting that killed one man and injured another in the 5500 block of Betty Drive on Sunday, Oct. 8.

At about 6:55 p.m., officers responded to the area and found Shawn Rhinehart, 22, suffering from life-threatening injuries. While officers were on Betty Drive with Rhinehart, Robert Reeves, 23, arrived at the hospital in a private vehicle with non-life-threatening injuries.

Rhinehart succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

The circumstances leading up to this incident are still under investigation. At this time, the shooting does not appear random.

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) — Savannah Chatham Metro Police report that two men were shot on Betty Drive on Sunday night around 7:30 p.m.

One victim sustained life threatening injuries, and the other victim is expected to recover.
Detectives also searched for bullet casings not far from this scene, along Brookview and Haven Drive.
Police have released no information on  suspects in this case.
