Senators, protesters come out against GOP health care bill

WASHINGTON (WSAV) – The Senate Finance Committee hearing on the Graham-Cassidy health care bill was met by interruptions from protestors today on Capitol Hill.

Protesters in wheelchairs shouted “No cuts to Medicaid! Save our liberty!” as Senator Hatch gaveled the room.

Republican Senators Bill Cassidy of Louisiana and South Carolina’s Lindsey Graham have spent weeks concocting and selling the party’s new approach to scrapping Obamacare.

“If I were a major insurance company, I’d hate my bill, because I take money and power away from you and give it to the states,” Senator Graham stated at today’s hearing.

However, the protesters who gathered today say there is much more at stake than state funds.

“Millions of lives are at stake, not just disabled people, but anybody who needs medical coverage and last time I checked, that’s every human being,” said one protestor.

Now there are more than enough Senate GOP opponents to kill the party’s drive to repeal the Affordable Care Act.

After the hearing, Maine’s Senator Susan Collins says she is against the Graham-Cassidy bill.

The only remaining hope for the White House and party leaders is to change opponents’ minds. A showdown will come this week.
