UPDATE: Police ID victim in shooting on E 40th Street

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) – Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department’s Violent Crimes detectives are investigating a shooting that occurred in the 1400 block of East 40th Street on September 9.

At about 10:45 p.m., officers responded to the area and found Malik McFarland, 17, suffering from non-life-threatening injuries.

At this time, detectives believe the shooting occurred during an altercation between McFarland and a subject known to him. The circumstances leading up to this incident are still under investigation.
