UPDATE: Local Trucking Company Gathering Supplies Now Leaving Thursday

UPDATE: The group that was going to leave Monday is now staying til Thursday to help gather more supplies for their stranded workers.

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) – Members of the Evans trucking group are working together with the public to gather supplies to send a 153-foot trailer to the Houston area.

Donations will be sent to some of their workers who are trapped in Houston as well as the surrounding community.

“Drivers that work with the company have lost everything,” explains Ashley Downs with ZIntermodal, Evans Network of Companies. “And they have babies as well. We will be making 3 stops in Houston. To try and help as many people as possible.”

They will be making three stops in Houston to try and help as many people as possible. Items needed are as follows:

  • Food: Canned goods, boxed food, non-perishable items
  • Bottled water
  • Baby Items: Diapers (all sizes), wipes, food, cereal, formula, Similac advance
  • Personal Items: Feminine products, toilet paper, tooth paste/brushes, shower products, hair brush/ties, deodorant, bandaids
  • Misc: Clorox/Bleach, large trash bags, disposable dishware, cleaning supplies, mops, brooms, bug spray, paper towels, pillows, towels, rubber gloves
  • Requested Items: Portable AC, oil for generators, fans, electrical cords, coolers, large totes, contractor grade garbage bags
  • Special Items: Enfamil Nutramigen with Enflora
  • Care packages will also be taken

Drop-off locations:

  • 33 Brampton Road in Garden City, Georgia
    • Thursday & Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Reaching for the Souls Refugee Church (505 US-80 Pooler, Georgia)
    • Thursday 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. & Friday 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
  • 2 Alfred Street in Garden City, Georgia (At the end of Alfred St. make a right & see services yard on left)
    • 6 a.m. to 3 p.m.

They ask that all donations be new and unopened.
