911 calls, body camera detail City Market shooting

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) – Just over a week ago, a shooting and deadly car crash left three people dead in downtown Savannah.

The incident began when shots were fired from a white SUV. In newly released body camera footage, the driver of the SUV is seen driving erratically.

The driver sped from the scene at city market with police following close behind.

Just minutes later, the vehicle crashed, killing a pedestrian and two passengers in the car.

Here’s what one 911 caller said when they incident began:

911 Operator: “Savannah-Chatham 911, what’s your emergency?”
Caller: “Yes, we’re in City Market at Wild Wings and there’s been at least 10 shots fired.”
911 Operator: “Okay. And did you see who?
Caller: “No, I didn’t see anything. We were sitting down trying to eat some late dinner. We didn’t see anything, but everyone is freaking the hell out. But, there was at least 10 shots fired.”
