An official with the U.S. Marshals Service tells us the warrant was being served for a vehicular homicide case in Chatham County.
The Effingham County Sheriff tells News 3 that U.S. Marshals were serving a felony warrant in the county when they heard a gunshot earlier today. He says the gunshot came from inside the residence where the warrant was being served, and that the subject killed himself. His name and the reason for the warrant are unknown at this time. SCMPD’s SWAT unit was called in to assist.
The stretch of Green Morgan School Road in Clyo closed earlier has also been reopened. We’ll bring you more information was it becomes available.
Effingham County (WSAV) – Authorities from multiple agencies are on scene in Effingham County.
We are still gathering details at this time, but we’re told a U.S. Marshal was trying to serve a warrant earlier today when a gunshot was heard in the area.
No word on injuries at this time.
