Update: Authorities release statement concerning series of bomb threats


The Federal Bureau of Investigation office in Atlanta has released the following statement in conjunction with SCMPD Chief Joseph Lumpkin:

On Wednesday, April 12, 2017, beginning at approximately 5:30 a.m., a series of telephonic bomb threats were received at a Savannah River based company.  The calls were anonymous and there was no indication why the victim company was targeted.

The U.S. Coast Guard took measures they deemed necessary in securing and protecting nearby maritime traffic and law enforcement gave the “all clear” at the scene just after noon today.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Atlanta FBI Field Office at (404) 679-9000.


Authorities have given the all clear on Wahlstrom Street.

Savannah (SCMPD) – Savannah-Chatham Metro Police Department is investigating a bomb threat called in on Wahlstrom St near President Street.

No road closures have been reported.

The Chatham County Sheriff’s Office & U.S.Coast Guard are also on scene.
