Remembering a Savannah’s Hero: Michael Curry, Savannah Master Firefighter

Savannah, GA — (WSAV)   Restaurants are known for their hospitality and Savannah’s restaurants are coming out in full force to help raise funds for local Master Firefighter Michael Curry who died while helping rescue people that had fallen into the Savannah River.    The event is being hosted by the Baker McCullough Funeral home which had previously helped with the funeral arrangements.   “We are honored to assist the family by raising much-needed funds” stated the host team of Kyle Nikola, Hubert Baker and Jason McCullough, Partners of the Baker McCullough group of funeral homes.   “Dec 19 would have been Mike’s Birthday and I’m glad we are remembering him on this day”  added Randi Hempel, a close friend of the Curry Family and local restaurant leader – working for  the Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse, who is spearheading the event.  Guests are invited to sample gourmet holiday treats from leading local chefs while helping to raise funds.  The “Taste of the Holidays”  event is scheduled as follow:

Local Restaurants & food suppliers  include:   Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse, The Pirates’ House, Barracuda Bobs, Corleones, Marche de Macarons,  Savannah Square Pops, Byrd Cookie Company and others.   Mickey Minick, incoming 2017 President of Buy Local Savannah, Ammie Dover &  Regan Drake of the Small Business Chamber of Savannah,  Cheryl Lawrence/ Cynthia Wright of Savannah Jaycees  and Jamie Daniel Durrence (Daniel Reed Hospitality Group of Restaurants) and volunteer local representative  for the Georgia Restaurant Association, were instrumental in helping to organize this event.  Travis Sawyer of Creative Approach donated printing for invitations and help with event graphics.   The event features live music by Steel Drum Performer Melvin Dean as well as a Wine Tasting, and Door Prizes.   100% of all proceeds  go directly to the Curry Family.
