Richmond Hill, GA (WSAV) – The city of Richmond Hill has a new police chief.
Mitch Shores was sworn in to the Richmond Hill Police Department’s top position at a special ceremony earlier today. He replaces Billy Reynolds, who served as chief of police for the past 31 years, and was recently elected probate judge in Bryan County.
“We are very excited about having Mitch join the City’s leadership team and expect a smooth transition when he officially comes on board,” said Richmond Hill Mayor Harold Fowler. “We have high expectations and know he will do an excellent job.”
Shores comes to the City of Richmond Hill Police Department from Savannah, where he currently works for the Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department as a sergeant. He brings 24 years of law enforcement experience, having worked as a field training officer, police academy instructor and member of SCMPD’s SWAT team.
Mitch Shores, a resident of Richmond Hill, was named “Supervisor of the Year” in 2005 by the Savannah Area Exchange Club and also has experience working with the Chatham County Narcotics Team and the U.S. Marshal Fugitive Team.
