UPDATE: The death toll in Tennesee wildfires has reached seven.

GATLINBURG, Tenn. (AP) – The mayor of Gatlinburg, Tennessee confirms 3 deaths in wildfires that destroyed hundreds of homes, businesses.

Welfare checks are still going on.

The mayor is among those who lost a home and a business.

14,000 people remain evacuated from the city near the entrance to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
