A Joyous Christmas

A Joyous Christmas Folk Concert:  Savannah’s Sacred Heart Folk Choir Nashville Singer/Songwriter Joni Bishop

What:   The annual Christmas concert at historic Sacred Heart Catholic Church, featuring the Sacred Heart Folk Choir singing unique arrangements of traditional carols, Christmas hymns, and holiday pop tunes. The choir’s vocalists are accompanied by guitars, mandolin, flute, trumpet and violin. And sometimes, by a priest!

Special guest Nashville artist/singer/songwriter Joni Bishop plays guitar, dulcimer and her own handmade stringed instruments, performing original Christmas songs and favorite carols, accompanied by Savannah’s stand-up bass John Powers and friends.

A popular draw on the Americana/bluegrass circuit, Joni Bishop was a New Folk winner in the prestigious Kerrville Folk Festival in Texas, has recorded for CBS Records, BWE Records and released 5 CDs on her own independent labelPolestar Records. Joni’s songs have been recorded by other artists including country singer Crystal Gayle.

“…..Bishop is a vocalist and acoustic guitarist of considerable strength and passion,
and her songwriting is deep, and thoughtful – and hopeful,
which makes her something of an uncommon delight
in this era of mopey and fatalistic musical wordsmithery.”
– Bill DeYoung  / CONNECT, Savannah –
