Hurricane Otto: Tuesday Night Update

Hurricane warning issued for parts of the coasts of Nicaragua and Costa Rica.

At 10pm, the center of Otto 285 miles ESE of Bluefields, Nicaragua.  Latitude 10.7 North.  Longitude 79.8 West.

Otto is moving toward the west-northwest near 3 mph.  A westward to west-northwestward motion and an increase in forward speed are expected during the next couple of days.  On the forecast track, the center of Otto is expected to move near or over the coasts of southern Nicaragua and northern Costa Rica on Thursday.

Maximum sustained winds are near 75 mph with higher gusts.  Gradual strengthening is expected until the hurricane makes landfall in Central America.

Otto is no threat to the Coastal Empire and Lowcountry.
