Republican Sen. David Perdue tells News 3 he thinks Donald Trump will be a great president and Perdue is among the lawmakers who hopes to get a lot accomplished in the first 100 days of the new administration.
The junior senator came to politics after leading several companies like Dollar General and he told News 3 about how he knew Trump was going to win the White House when others didn’t think it could be done.
“I saw the same dynamic driving this race that drove my race (for senate) in 2014, this total frustration of the lack of results in Washington,” said Perdue. “It’s how I got elected. It’s how I predicted (Trump) would get elected.”
Senator Perdue said he’s been working on changing the way the federal government is funded. He wants to make the budget a law instead of a resolution. He wants all expenses to be included and he wants consequences for lawmakers if they don’t meet a budget deadline.
Perdue said the bill is ready to go and thinks Trump is the man to rid Washington of gridlock.
“I think what you’re going to see is that (Trump) is pulling people around him that will develop confidence among the people of America,” said Perdue. “He wants to do the following: He wants to bring America together again and he wants to represent every single American.”
Senator Perdue said the other major topic that needs to be addressed right away is global security.
