Veterans Day parade to impact downtown traffic

SAVANNAH, GA (WSAV) – The 2016 Veterans Day Parade will begin at 10 a.m. on Friday, November 11 but streets will be cleared as early as 6AM.

Traffic will be rerouted on several Downtown Savannah streets.

The staging area will be located on Abercorn Street and will run from Duffy to Gaston, then from Drayton to Lincon according to a release from SCMPD. The parade will begin at Gaston and Abercorn streets and end at Broughton and Price.

Traffic flow will also be affected as well as residential and vistor parking. Starting at 12:01 a.m. Friday, parking will be impacted within the staging area nad along the parade route. For detailed information on road closure and parking information click here.

No parking zones will be marked prior to the parade. Notices are being posted in impacted areas. Vehicles remaining in no parking zones after the indicated times will be towed at the owner’s expense.

Normal traffic flow is expected to resume by 2 p.m. SCMPD asks drivers to plan routes accordingly and to exercise caution and patience during this event.
