One missing after car crashes into river

UPDATE: Metro police have recovered 17-year-old Andrew Barnes body out of the Skidaway River.

Savannah, Ga. (WSAV) – Around 1:45 Sunday morning Savannah-Chatham Metro Police responded to the Diamond Causeway and the Rodney J Hall Boat Ramp after reports of a car crash. A vehicle left the ramp with four people in the car and plunged into the Skidaway River, according to Metro PD.

Three people were found alive but one person remained missing late Sunday morning. A search is ongoing from marine patrol and the Department of Natural Resources. Police report the vehicle was a blue sedan.

Family have been notified as police continue the search for the Savannah teen.

The occupants of the vehicle include Delaion Woodbury, 20, Matthew Barnes, 21, Michael Barnes, 19 and Andrew Barnes, 17.

A search of the area for Andrew Barnes continues by GA DNR and Chatham County Marine Patrol.

This incident remains under investigation by MAIT.
