The suspect, Scott Michael Green, was found near Interstate 80. Police say he flagged down an Iowa Department of Natural Resources employee and asked them to call 9-1-1.

Police say they had been to Green’s home in Urbandale for prior incidents, none this serious.

The suspect in today’s fatal police shootings in Iowa has a record of confrontation with police and others. Iowa court records show that Scott Greene was jailed and charged after resisting Urbandale police officers trying to pat him down for a weapon in April of 2014. He entered a guilty plea and was fined.

Two days later Urbandale police were called to the apartment complex where Greene lived. He had allegedly threatened to kill another man during a confrontation in the parking lot. He again pleaded guilty and received a suspended jail sentence.
