West Virginia man arrested after standoff in Long County

LUDOWICI, Ga. – The Georgia Bureau of Investigation, Long County Sheriff’s Office and others helped to end a standoff situation on Highway 57 Monday night.

22-year-old Anthony Young of Webster Springs West Virginia was wanted for burglary after stealing a phone and some change from the Ludowici Police Department on October 30th, according to investigators.

A Long County Deputy made contact with Young who told the deputy he had an explosive device attached to him.

A perimeter was set up and roads were closed while Law Enforcement dealt with Young.  He was eventually taken into custody and an explosive device was found and rendered safe.

GBI says Young had a large amount of narcotics at the time of his arrest.  He’s currently charged with Burglary with other charges to come.
