Portion of Hwy 57 blocked in Long County due to standoff

UPDATE: Long County Sheriff Craig Nobles confirms to News 3, the roadway is closed due to a standoff with a man who claims to have explosives.

Authorities stress there is no danger to the public at this time.


LONG COUNTY, Ga. – Law Enforcement Officials have closed a portion  Highway 57 in Long County.

It’s near Baggs Cemetery Road and traffic is being rerouted.

News crews are being kept away from the situation that’s prompting the closure, but sources say there is a situation with a man claiming to have explosives.  Teams with Fort Stewart and the GBI are trying resolve the situation.
