SAVANNAH, Ga. The streets of downtown Savannah were sprinkled with blue and orange on Saturday as hundreds joined together to celebrate Savannah State’s Homecoming Weekend.
On Saturday people marched, danced, waved or merely watched from the sidewalks as young and old took part in the annual Homecoming Parade.
For some it was their first parade experience and for others, like Kimberly Chappell-Stevens, it was a chance to celebrate their alma mater.
“This is an exciting and is very exciting to be sharing it with my mother who is also an alumna of Savannah State and has really make me love this school throughout the years. Growing up and celebrating with her,” Chappell-Stevens said.
Sunday’s Homecoming events includes a alum Worship Service at 8:00 a.m. at the Marriott Savannah Riverfront Hotel and the “Finale Concert : Freshman Class Gospel Edition” that starts 5:00 p.m. at Student Union Grand Ballroom.
