Metro Police looking for thieves who stole Jesus statue from church

Savannah Metro Police are trying to track down the suspects who stole the Statue of the Sacred Heart of Jesus from a local church.

Several children who attend the Blessed Sacrament Church on Victory Drive noticed the statue was missing Monday morning.  School leaders called police. They believe thieves snatched the statue of Jesus in the middle of the night over the weekend.  And, they probably went to a lot of trouble to get it – the statue weighs a ton. School leaders want the statue back immediately.

“We forgive you, if you’ll just bring him back, we would really like our Jesus back,” says Lynn Brown with the Blessed Sacrament School.

The church doesn’t have surveillance video of the crime.

They’re hoping someone knows something and will call police.
