SAVANNAH, GA – (WSAV) Savannah fire crews investigate after a two mile stretch of railroad tracks caught on fire Tuesday afternoon. Southside Fire are investigating five different fires along the CSX owned railroad tracks. Investigators say the fires are similar to fires caused by sparks from a train but that has not been determined. Fire crews first responded to the calls at 3:00 p.m. and were on the scene for several hours. Fire crews were able to prevent any property damage from the fires with the exception of the land around the railroad tracks. No injuries were reported. A Chatham County helicopter helped extinguish the flames.
