He’s been on the run for three years.
A Fugitive Files suspect we’ve shown you multiple times is finally back behind bars.
Joel Bunton, a convicted sex offender, hasn’t been seen since 2013, when we first profiled him on Fugitive Files. Along with WSAV and Crimestoppers, wanted posters were even placed in business in the area. Finally a series of tips led the three agencies to the residence on Concord Road.
In both 2014 and 2015, acting on tips you gave us during our Fugitive Files Roundup, we went with Chatham County Sheriff’s to Bunton’s Mother’s house on Concord road in Savannah, but were not able to find him.
This time, US. Marshal’s and the Chatham County Sheriff’s SORT team and SCMPD K9 Units did track down Bunton at his mother’s house and arrested him for violating his probation.
Investigators also arrested his mother, Myrtice Bunton for obstruction by hindering.
Sheriff Wilcher praised the Sheriff’s Office S.O.R.T. Unit for their three year effort to arrest Mr. Burton and also praised the U. S. Marshall Service and Savannah Chatham Metro for their role in this arrest adding that “this is a perfect example of multiple agencies working together. The Sheriff’s Office is always willing to assist these agencies when needed and we greatly appreciate their assistance on this mission.”
Joel Bunton is the 187th suspect arrested after being profiled on Fugitive Files.
