TYBEE ISLAND, Ga – Slowly signs of normalcy continue to return in the Lowcountry and Coastal Empire in the aftermath of Hurricane Matthew.
On Tybee Island, many resident are all smiles thanks to shorter lines at the post office.
The South Campbell Avenue of United States Postal Service was damaged during the storm rendering it unusable.
Those who use a P.O. box were redirected to the Wilmington Island location to receive and send mail. Many residents complain of waiting for hours to receive their mail.
Now a mobile unit has been brought into the Tybee Island location to help make things a little easier.
Tybee Island Councilwoman Wanda Doyle says the office hopes to be back open for business in time for the holidays.
Below of the hours of operation for the mobile truck:
- Open: Monday – Friday 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
- Open: Saturday 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
- Mail pick up: Monday – Friday 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
- Mail pick up: Saturday 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
