Hurricane Nicole is moving northeast over the north Atlantic Ocean… and is continuing to produce a large area of high seas.
At 5pm… the center of Nicole is around 615 miles southeast of Cape Race in Newfoundland. Maximum sustained winds are around 80 mph… making it a category 1 hurricane. The storm is moving northeast around 9 mph.
There are no watches or warnings in effect for land areas…. and the storm is only a threat to marine interests.
Nicole is expected to continue the northeast motion into Monday… followed by a faster north/northeast to northeast motion by Tuesday.
Little change in strength is forecast over the next 48 hours.
The storm is expected to become post-tropical / extratropical in about 36 hours if not sooner.
