Hurricane Nicole is moving northeast over the north Atlantic Ocean… and its swells are likely to create dangerous surf conditions across much of the Atlantic.
At 11pm… the center of Nicole is around 570 miles southeast of Cape Race in Newfoundland. Maximum sustained winds are around 80 mph… making it a category 1 hurricane. The storm is moving northeast around 9 mph.
There are no watches or warnings in effect for land areas…. and the storm is only a threat to marine interests.
Nicole is expected to continue the northeast motion with an increase in forward motion through late Monday… followed by a even faster north/northeast motion on Tuesday.
Little change in strength is forecast over the next 48 hours… and Nicole is expected to produce hurricane-force winds through Tuesday.
The storm is expected to become post-tropical / extratropical on Tuesday as well.
