EFFINGHAM COUNTY, Ga. – Officials with the Effingham County Emergency Management released the following update on efforts in the county:
“Effingham County EMA would like to send a heartfelt “Thank You!” to all our emergency responders, utility crews, public works, and National Guard for their tremendous response to Hurricane Matthew. We will be winding down the Emergency Operations Center and EMA office to normal business hours but we will continue to respond to questions through our Facebook page, email (EEMA@EffinghamCounty.org), and our phone lines 912-754-8888 and 912-754-8206.
Natural Debris Collection site open 8AM-5:30PM at the Effingham County Landfill located at 2750 Courthouse Rd. Citizens can bring NATURAL DEBRIS ONLY (trees, shrubs, etc.) and we have someone on site to assist with unloading.
Citizens can burn NATURAL MATERIALS ONLY each day until dark and as long as it does not disturb neighbors.
Effingham County has not issued a “boil water advisory” for county water services or private wells. If your utility company has contacted you, please follow their instructions.
Power has been restored to approximately 98% of Effingham residents.
Effingham County Government offices have reopened and are following normal business hours.
Effingham County Schools resumed their normal schedule today (Thursday.)”
