Volunteers serve hundred for ‘Operation feed Savannah’

SAVANNAH, Ga. – Operation feed Savannah, a partnership with the city, served hot meals for hundreds Wednesday.

Volunteers served food like chicken, shrimp and broccoli at West Broad Street YMCA.

Meals were passed out to families who still have power out or have problems feeding their families.

The group managed to get 3,000 meals together in two days.

“This is a need and we’re trying to meet a need and I’m just here as an ambassador to make sure this is a success for our city, our county,” Cynthia Deloach, an event organizer, said. “It’s more than just Savannah. We’ll be in other places next week.”

They plan to offer another event like the one next Wednesday at Windsor Forest Community Center and the W.W. Law Center from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.
