EFFINGHAM COUNTY, Ga. – The Effingham Emergency Management Agency sent in a comprehensive update for residents in the county.
EEMA has set up 2 points for drinking water distribution open 7AM-Midnight:
- South Effingham High School at 1220 Noel C Conaway Rd, Guyton
- Effingham County High School at 1589 Hwy 119 North, Springfield
We ask that you only use this service if it is a True Emergency, and you have no access to drinking water.
Please note: many residents are still without power. The only timeline we have is a worst-case scenario of 4-6 days before power is restored to everyone. But multiple crews are working around the clock and many connections have already been restored.
Telephone and cell phone coverage is limited due to damaged fiber lines. Currently, we have not received a repair timeframe for these services.
Effingham County Schools are scheduled to be closed Monday, October 10-Wednesday, October 12. At this time, schools plan to resume Thursday, October 13.
Effingham County Government offices will resume normal business on Wednesday, Oct.12
Citizens are advised to use both recycle and trash collection cans for trash this week. Collection should operate as normal starting Tuesday, October 11.
Natural Debris Removal site open 9AM-5:30PM: Effingham citizens can bring NATURAL DEBRIS ONLY (trees, shrubs, etc.) to the Effingham County Landfill at 2750 Courthouse Rd and Recycle Way. We have National Guard members on site to assist with unloading.
Please tune in to local news stations and our local AM/FM broadcasts for area updates.
