HILTON HEAD, SC – (WSAV) Hilton Head mayor David Bennett announcing on his facebook page Monday night that Hilton Head will begin to allow people back on the island starting at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday. But..Plantation associations can restrict access and not let you back on if it’s safe.
“We are ready to begin re-entry tomorrow at 3 pm. Remember, there are certain POA’s which are experiencing extenuating circumstances because of the magnitude of damage they suffered and they have safety concerns for their residents and workers. As always, POA’s have the capability to restrict access within their gates. Tomorrow morning, the Town of HIlton Head Island will post a comprehensive re-entry notice, which will provide detail as to any POA’s that are not permitting access to their residents. I assure you that every moment that goes by, more work is accomplished. However, I strongly urge you to consider waiting to return to the Island if you are able to do so.
In order to get this message to you, I cannot include the finalized re-entry instructions from the Beaufort County Sheriffs Office. However, they will be forthcoming directly from Sheriff Tanner. I can confirm that the majority of our residents and businesses will be welcomed home tomorrow, and our BCSO will work diligently to make the access effective. Please stay tuned for details and as always, call the re-entry number – 1-800-963-5023.” – Mayor David Bennet, facebook.
