BULL RIVER BRIDGE, Ga – Trying to get home Saturday morning the Tybee Island locals who stayed in Savannah during Hurricane Matthew chopped down a tree blocking the Bull River Bridge.
Locals saw a problem and tried to fix it. By bringing in chainsaws and throwing branches to the side of the road.
But come to find out they couldn’t cross over.
Officials say all bridges must be checked by g-dot before letting anyone cross over.
“I guess they have to inspect the bridge and everything and make sure it’s safe to go on,” Truman Blevins, who lives on Tybee, said. “I understand that and I’m sure they understand that we’re just trying to get on there to see if there’s any severe damage or anything.”
As of now, no one except for first responders can cross over the bridge to Tybee Island.
