SAVANNAH, Ga. – While News 3 was reporting from East Broad and President Street Saturday morning, a group of homeless people came wading through waist deep water.
The homeless told our news crew that they didn’t know they needed to evacuate. They also said there were homeless people under the Truman who were up to their necks in water during the storm.
Two college students nearby gave the group blankets and clothes from their backs. Our news crew gave them snacks they had in the car.
We’ll have more on this group and how word of the evacuation escaped them as we continue our coverage of Matthew’s aftermath.
