Claxton, GA (WSAV) – A Claxton grocery store worker was sent to the hospital after being hit in the head by a hammer during an armed robbery Sunday morning.
An employee at the Claxton Police Department told NEWS 3 the call came in just before 6:30 Sunday morning that the subject was entering the Flash Foods on 403 North Duval Street. Earl Brewton of Claxton was arrested on the scene and will face multiple charges, according to the police chief. The PD employee added that the grocery store worker has worked at the store for years and that he was transported to the hospital by ambulance. The chief later said the worker had been released from the hospital. The chief is crediting a passerby for holding Brewton down until authorities arrived. “He made the day,” the chief said. This post will be updated as more information becomes available.
