Matthew: The Fifth Hurricane of the 2016 Atlantic Season

As of 5:00 pm Hurricane Matthew was about 150 miles north northeast of Curacao, with winds speeds of 75 mph. The storm is moving west about 17 mph. The storm is forecasted to continue westward for the next few days, before is makes a turn towards the right. Soon after, Matthew will beginning tracking toward the north.


There is a Tropical Storm Watch in effect for Bonaire, Curacao, and Aruba. Also, the government of Colombia has issued a Tropical Storm Watch for the coast of Colombia from the Colombia/Venezuela border to Riohacha.

Impacts in those area include:

  • Tropical Storm force winds
  • 2-4″ of rain, but isolated areas could see more
  • Life threatening surf and rip current risks

There is still a lot of uncertainty with if/how this storm will impact the U.S. Southeast coast. Stay with STORM TEAM 3 as we will have the latest information and possible impacts to the Coastal Empire and Lowcountry.
