With wind speeds of 75 mph, Matthew is now a hurricane. The storm system is about 190 northeast of Curacao and is moving west, near 17 mph.
Matthew is expected to take a turn toward the north this weekend and then continue to move north through much of next week. There is still a lot of uncertainty with Matthew’s direct path and the possible effects this storm could have on the Southeast coast. There is high confidence that this storm will continue to strengthen as it makes it way through the warm Atlantic ocean waters.
There is a Tropical Storm Watch for Bonaire, Curacao, and Aruba. Tropical storm force winds, 2-4 inches of rain, and rough seas are expected for areas such as Puerto Rico, Hispaniola, Aruba, Bonaire, Curacao, Venezuela and Colombia the next few days.
