Homicide in Townville connected to school shooting, coroner says

TOWNVILLE, SC (WSPA) – A 47-year-old man was found dead at a home on Osborne Road in Townville in connection with the shooting at Townville Elementary.

The coroner identified the man as 47-year-old Jeffrey Dewitt Osborne and say he is the father of the shooting suspect.

The Anderson County Coroner says the shooter is also the teen suspect in the shooting at Townville Elementary School.

The coroner says the victim’s parents got a call from their grandson who is the suspect around 1:45 p.m.

They said the grandson was crying and they couldn’t understand him. They went to the home and found Osborne dead.

Investigators say the suspect went to the school after the shooting at the home.

The homicide scene is about 3 miles southwest the school.
