DEVELOPING STORY: Photo may support police claim of gun in Charlotte shooting

Charlotte, N.C. (NBC)- Charlotte affiliate WCNC has obtained a photo from the scene of Tuesday’s deadly police involved shooting.
In it- you see a gun police say Keith Lamont Scott had when he was shot.

The photo was obtained from a Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police source.

Officers encountered Scott while trying to serve warrants on a different man at an apartment complex.

Authorities say Scott ignored police commands to drop his weapon Tuesday afternoon when he was shot by officer Brentley Vinson.

The statement is contested by witnesses, who say Scott had not gun, and had been reading a book in his car while he waited for his son’s school bus.

Police say there was not book found at the scene.
