Guyton police investigating shooting, home invasion

GUYTON, Ga (WSAV) –  A man is recovering after being shot in a Guyton home invasion. Four children were in the house at the time and now police are searching for multiple suspects.

Seven people were in that home on Griffin road when the shooting happened. Police tell News 3, they’ve visited this home before.

“There have been prior calls to it before, but nothing like this in reference to a shooting, but it was to like domestic issues that I am familiar with,” says the chief.

Police are now struggling with conflicting descriptions from witnesses. They looking for three to four suspects, and either a black or a silver SUV or sedan.

“As the day goes forward I’m getting a lot of different information that per say I’ll just say is contradicting,” says Lundy.

What is certain is the shooting left one Guyton man in serious condition, having to be airlifted to Memorial.

“Not since I have been here as chief, we’ve had a shooting,” says the chief.

Guyton police and the Effingham county sheriff’s office continue to investigate what is the city’s first shooting in well over a year.
