5pm Tuesday Update on Tropical Storm Karl and Lisa

Here is the latest update on tropical storm Karl and Lisa.

At 5pm… the center of tropical storm Karl was continuing on a westward track about 480 miles east/northeast of the Leeward Islands.

A turn to the west/northwest or northwest is expected with a slightly faster forward motion over the next couple of days.

Maximum sustained winds are around 40 mph with higher gusts.  Additional strengthening is forecast during the next 48 hours… and Karl could become a hurricane late this week.

The storm could be near or to the east of Bermuda Friday night or Saturday morning.

In the eastern Atlantic… tropical storm Lisa has strengthened a little. The storm is around 465 miles west of the Cabo Verde Islands at 5 pm.

Maximum sustained winds have strengthened to are around 45 mph… and additional strengthening is expected through Wednesday. Weakening is then expected to begin on Thursday.

Lisa is moving northwest around 12 mph and this general motion is expected to continue through Thursday.
