Karl Not Likely to Impact United States

Tropical Storm Karl was about 930 miles east of the Leeward Islands early Monday morning, moving west at 15 mph. Winds were 40 mph and strengthening is expected over the next several days.

It is likely Karl will become a hurricane later this week, possibly even as strong as a Category 2 storm, but is expected to stay out at sea, taking a turn toward the north before getting close enough to impact the United States.
