4th Annual Teal Tea Party in Savannah

September is Gynecologic Cancer Awareness Month.
That’s why Dr. William Richards of the Lewis Cancer and Research Pavilion hosted a “Teal Tea Party” Sunday.
Educating women about cervical, ovarian, and other uterine cancers….and honoring those very special women who have both battled and survived the fight against gynecological cancer.
One survivor told News 3 every day since remission has been a blessing.
“Today means I get a second chance at life. I was stage four cervical cancer and 16 months later I’m here to say that I’m in remission, so I just Thank God, thank family and thank Dr. Richards.,’ explains Cervical Cancer Survivor Teolita Rickenbacker
They decided to spice up the evening with a “survivor fashion show”, and
our very own Tina Tyus-Shaw was Mistress of Ceremony.
According to The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, each year 83,000 women are diagnosed with gynecological cancer each year.
These amazing survivors credit Dr. William Richards and his staff with saving their lives.
