SAVANNAH, Ga. (AP) – Flooring retailer Floor & Decor plans a big expansion of its import distribution center near the Port of Savannah.
Georgia Ports Authority executive director Griff Lynch made the announcement Thursday during his annual “State of the Ports” speech. Based in metro Atlanta, Floor & Decor sells wood, tile and stone flooring at 68 stores nationwide.
The company plans to spend $50 million on the project’s first phase, which will give the retailer 1.4 million square feet of storage space when the new center opens next year. It’s expected to employ more than 100 workers, more than double the current number.
Floor & Decor plans to add another 1.1 million square feet as early as 2019.
