RIDGELAND, S.C. – A former employee of O.C. Welch Ford dealership in Hardeeville who stole nearly $2 million dollars from the business was sentenced Thursday.
54-year-old DeAnne Ogden of Jesup pleaded guilty Thursday to breach of trust over $10,000. She worked for O.C. Welch over 10 years as the assistant comptroller. She was responsible for preparing checks to different vendors who sold parts to the dealership for repairs.
Ogden stole approximately $1,943,819 between June 2008 and October 2015. She was fired in November of last year.
Ogden was sentenced to eight years in prison and five years probation upon her release.
She already turned over assets as restitution valued around $860,000. That included her home, a vacant lot beside it, furniture, a Ford Raptor pickup, a Lincoln Navigator, a four-wheeler, two golf carts, her 401K account and jewelry.
She’ll also be required to pay back the remaining balance of $572,085.
