SCDPS searches for deadly hit & run suspect

JASPER CO., SC – (WSAV) The South Carolina Department of Transportation investigates a deadly hit and run that happened Saturday morning. According to the investigating trooper, it occurred on US-17 just before the Georgia state line at 5:20 a.m.. A pedestrian walking southbound was struck by a car traveling southbound on US-17. The car fled the scene. The victim was taken to Savannah’s Memorial University Medical Center where he later died from his injuries. The identity of the victim has not yet been released. SCDPS continues to search for the suspect vehicle. Troopers describe it as a 2014-2016 dark colored Chevy Impala with damage on the left front bumper, fender area and windshield.
