Better Business Bureau: new jury duty scam targeting people in Savannah

The Better Business Bureau is warning that a new jury duty scam is targeting people in the Savannah area.

The BBB says the caller claims to be a sergeant with the US District Court contacting the consumer because they failed to show up for a federal grand jury. The supposed sergeant then instructs the consumer they can avoid going to jail if they pay a $2000 fine. Consumer is instructed to go to a kiosk in downtown Savannah and get a voucher for the amount.

The Better Business says do NOT agree to meet this person and never agree to pay someone you don’t know any money after receiving a phone call.  It advises if you receive a call like this, hang up and then report it to local police and the BBB.
