CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) – A new $20 million business school will be the first new academic building constructed on The Citadel campus in four decades.
The Post and Courier of Charleston reports the business school currently shares space with other departments in a building that is almost 100 years old. Business is the most popular major at The Citadel, with more than 600 cadets rerolled.
The building is being named Bastin Hall in honor of Rick Bastin and his wife Mary Lee, who are donating $6 million for the project.
The business school now shares space in Bond Hall, a building constructed back in 1922, the same year the college moved to its campus on the Ashley River from Marion Square in downtown Charleston.
The new building is expected to open in 2019.
